| Dropping the ceiling . Spring has sprung, time to get bust getting this thing rolling. We hope to have it solid enough to drive by early summer. We will be needing AC for that so the next logical step is to get the drop ceiling in, and the AC units to the roof. After a few trial and error ways to figure out how to get the ceiling in straight,we decided on spacers off the top horizontal structure on the bus. We set them up to 2 feet on center, but it did not lign up with anything else from the factory. First thought was the dropping it down even from the roof, but after years of service, and people walking on it, it was not as straight as it should be. We also had to weld some cracks found in the sub structure. All of the drop sections are in except for one in the front of the bus. We are still holing off on that till we figure out the front cap. However we will be working on it soon enough. Someone special is trying to find time to stop in and take a look at it. Hopefully the weather and his schedual will cooperate. If not we won't be able to hold out much longer and we will just wing it. |

The rear AC unit is offset to the front of the hatch. Once we make a patch panel for the hole, the unit will look like it is placed more evenly over the patch. Then we made a wooden duct system to go below it where the above ceiling duct work will run into. This has one piece that is bolted to the steel, and a plywood section that is screwed in to be removable if needed to be. Looking back we may have been able to move the duct a little closer to the front to align with the drop ceiling a little better, but we were unsure of getting the welder into the front to weld the structure into the hole. |
