| Rooftop Units
Almost to the end of the welding. For the fans we decided to add some steel boxes to the roof and brace them from the drop steel we put in. This kept the roof stiff around the hole. The roof ski is screwed into threaded holes we tapped into the steel after it was welded in. Hopefully this will keep the flex down from driving so it wont leak. So far the only issue we had was a little moisture around the factory rivets from rain in the driveway. So we got out the rivet hammer and bucked them in a little to reset them. they don't show any sign of moisture anymore. It must have been the heat from welding got them a little soft. |

Under the roof wood box plenums were made to fit between the
roof and the ceiling. For the AC units duct work will be installed in
the side for the supply, and the return will be just a ceiling grate.
For the AC units a steel tube was installed in the original escape hatch
hole. Then another section of aluminum sheeting was put over the hole,
and smaller hole cut in for the AC. An attempt was made to place the AC
unit as far forward of the hole as possible. This way the unit itself
covers all the patch on the back of the unit. and closet to all on the
front. Not that anyone will ever see up there, but you never know. A straight
down rain will roll over the edge past the patch. But nothing will keep
a driving rain off. |
